Located on the border with Switerland, this is a department which is probably fairly well known if one considers the amount of natural or architectural wealth there: the Haut-Jura Regional Park and its magnificent mountain landscapes, La Dombes and its 1,000 ponds, Le Bugey with its lakes and forests, the medieval city of Pérouges or the remarkable royal monastery of Brou... Hard to make a complete list in fact as there is so much to put on it. Property in Ain is very affordable and offers great scope. If you want to live in town, an apartment in Oyannax, or a house in the centre of Bourg-en-Bresse would suit you. But the countryside also has a lot in store: land, barns to renovate, and even farm houses in Bresse.
